First pip of 2018

Pure locality Currituck County, North Carolina Eastern Kingsnakes.

Mother is F1 from wild caught, gravid female and the father snake was wild-caught.

This clutch was laid on 4/23. 10 eggs. Looks like 2 went south. Hopefully the other 8 make it out. 50 days from oviposition to first pip. Incubated at 84F (air temp in the egg box) and humidity was at or near 100% the entire time in the incubator.

The mother of the clutch is about to bust open with a second clutch now. In her pre-lay shed presently.
